Super Jackson

Jackson loves his towel. It’s really big and has a hood and he loves wearing it. Sometimes he likes to wear it even after he’s gotten dressed. Lately he’s taken to calling it his “super.” It’s pretty funny. He puts the hood on and runs around as if he’s flying and calls himself Super Jackson. If it falls off, he gets worried. “Oh no Mummy, my super. My super fell off.” And so I have to quickly put it back on so that he can fly around and save the world from baby Owen (and sometimes Zurg). Good thing we’ve got him around to protect us.

Football with the boys

Sam and I set out on an uncertain adventure on Friday night. We got tickets for the football game and decided to take the boys. Sam thought it would be really fun, I wasn’t so sure. But I went along with it. We went into the city a few hours early and visited both the Art Museum and the Queensland Museum. The boys had a good time. Then we headed to the mall for some quick shopping and dinner and it was off to the game.

Most of it was good. Jackson started yelling, “I want to go home” around half time, but we were able to bribe him with chips (fries) and other treats to stick it out. Owen was an angel. The game itself wasn’t that great, but luckily it didn’t rain and wasn’t even too cold. It was fun and we all survived, however we will probably not be repeating the experience anytime soon.

Jackson thought it was super cool that we could be dinosaurs. We were dinosaurs for a long time.

Everyone around us thought the kids were really cute. As you can see, they were! Every now and then Jackson would yell out, “Go Broncos!” What a good boy!

9 months later

I can’t believe that my little bubby is 9 months already. He’s so much fun to have around and we’re so glad that he joined our family. Owen loves crawling, climbing and getting his hands on everything, especially if he can somehow get it in his mouth. He adores his big brother Jackson. They’ve already started wrestling (Jackson leans on him and Owen laughs) and Jackson can make Owen laugh more than anyone else. Owen loves bath time and eating (especially if he can eat it himself). His favorite song is “The itsy-bitsy spider” and he never tires of peek-a-boo. He’s also very wriggly, which at times makes getting him dressed nearly impossible. We love our little munchkin!

Does this make me a bad mum?

I not only allowed this to happen multiple times, but I laughed at it and asked Jackson to do it again so I could get photos.  Jackson made Owen into a turtle. Hee hee. I’m still laughing. (Owen wasn’t a fan.)

Things

Here are some photos of some of the things we’ve been up to. And my completely adorable boys.

Nan was here from Sydney over Mother’s Day so we took her and Sue out for dinner. And then we realized we didn’t have a photo of Nan with the kids so we tried to get one. Unfortunately Owen was too wiggly to hold for long .

Jackson all tuckered out and Owen ready to cheer on Queensland for State of Origin. Go Maroons!

Sam and I went to a costume party for a friend’s birthday. These were our last minute costumes, we went as our evil twins, Tatiana and Schlomo.

It’s happening

I guess that I’m getting old. Almost everyday some situation arises that makes me think to myself, “I am becoming my mother.”  It really does happen all the time. Here are a few examples:

  • I often find myself wanting to throw something at Sam when he’s being cheeky.
  • I get cold easily. I really hate this one cause we make fun of my mum for this a lot.
  • I jump while Sam is driving.
  • I get a bit obsessive sometimes when I clean, although I am no where near my mum on this one.
  • I want to have ice cream or milkshakes for dinner.
  • Lately I always forget my phone when I go out.

Okay, so that’s all I can think of right now, but it really does happen a lot. One time Sam came in and I was on my knees cleaning the floor and Sam said, “Hello Linda.” Resulting in me wanting to throw something at him.

But then I realized it’s okay to be like my mom. I really like her. As much as we tease her and laugh at her, I can’t think of anyone I’d rather grow up to be like. Hopefully though I can pick up a few of her good traits to go along with all these annoying ones that I seemed to have inherited. Love you Mom! (And she’s an awesome Nana too!)

Roma St Parklands

Last Monday was a holiday. (The Monday before that was too, so we got two 3 day weekends in a row. So cool. But that’s not what this is about.) We started the day at the park with some friends and their 2 boys. We had delicious pancakes and the kids had a great time playing. Then in the afternoon we went into the city to check out a new park that we’d heard about. It is one of our new favorite places. I still can’t believe that I’ve somehow missed out on this place until now. It was beautiful with gardens, playgrounds, lake, bbqs, and large grassy areas for playing. Loved it. Can’t wait to go back for a picnic or something.
