The big move

I'm a bit behind on my blogging, sorry. But I have been a bit busy, moving to another country and all. I could fill you in on all the boring details, but then you'd be bored, so I'll skip them. Basically, we packed up all our bags (which included: 4 suitcases, 2 boxes, 1 suit bag, 2 carry-on suitcases, 1 backpack and 2 diaper bags), said a lot of sad goodbyes (which included a few tears), got on a plane and moved to Australia. I never imagined that I move to another country, but it is a pretty exciting adventure.

The boys did pretty well with all the traveling. Jackson didn't really like having to sit in his seat with his seat belt on, but he did pretty well over all. He was very excited to be on an airplane and especially liked looking out the window (luckily we had a window seat on both flights). We flew first to LA, had a 3 hour layover, and then flew direct to Brisbane. It was a long flight, but again, the boys did very well. We didn't even have to drug them.

It was a huge relief when we finally landed. We made it! I was a little surprised to find myself feeling a little sad instead of excited. It was like it finally sunk in that I was so far away from all my friends and family. But, then we got off the plane, and it was exciting again. It was so great to see Sam's family all waiting for us.

And now we have been here for a week. It has already gone by so fast. We are finally adjusting to the time (the boys were up for the day at 3am for the first few days), we are loving the warm weather, and we are catching up with lots of family. Now if someone would just find a house and a car for us, we'd be set!
The adventure is just beginning....

Christmas Fun!!

By the time Christmas rolled around, we were moved out of our apartment and living with my parents. It was fantastic, since they had all the Christmas essentials that we were missing: a tree, decorations, presents, nativities, food, etc. It also meant that we didn't have to get up early in order to be there on time. Jackson didn't really know what was happening, so he slept in until I woke him up at 7:45. Brilliant.
We had a great morning, opening gifts and eating undercooked cinnamon rolls with my family. Jackson had more presents than anyone I think, which he enjoyed immensely. Sam and I each got an ipod touch in November, so Christmas morning we just pretended that we were really excited about them. And Owen enjoyed all the commotion. He would grab onto the wrapping paper, and I'd move the gift so that he kind of opened things. Pretty sure he's a baby genius.
Most of the day was spent eating and playing Wii Fit Plus, which my parents got from Santa. It was great fun. We especially enjoyed watching each other flap our arms trying to make a mii dressed like a chicken fly. Good times. Kendra has the video, if you'd like to see it, you'll have to ask her.
