We love Nana!

We love our Nana and we were so happy that she got to come and spend a few weeks with us. Of course it wasn’t nearly long enough. We already miss having her around and I especially miss all the help she gave us. I’ve had to start washing dishes again which is a real nuisance.

We got up to a lot of fun while she was here. Our adventures included the beach at Surfer’s Paradise, Roma St. Park, Daisy Hill, breakfast bbq at the park, Australia Zoo, a rugby league game, Mt. Cootha and the botanical gardens, a lot of fish and chips and meat pies, Sea World, hiking in the rainforest, time in the city, 2 birthday parties, and a lot of chill out time. We love you Nana and we are so glad that you came to see us. We are looking forward to your next visit!

Jackson is 3!

How did my baby boy who started out so little…

IMG_0525

get so big? I can’t believe how fast the time has gone and how grown up he is. But we love watching him grow and learn. He’s such a smart little sucker! We had a great day celebrating him.

This was the first year that Jackson has been really excited about his birthday. He’s been looking forward to it since Sam and I had our birthdays in July. As it turns out, Jackson was really sick on his birthday, but luckily we celebrated a week early since his Gympie cousins would be in town. It turned out great!

We had a great family party complete with bbq, gifts, and cake and ice cream. Jackson had the time of his life being the center of attention and running crazy with all the cousins. He was just so happy to finally have his birthday. A couple of days later he told Sam that he didn’t have a dream about monsters, but about his birthday at Grandma’s.

I don’t have too many photos, but here are a few to document the occasion.

Jackson with all his gifts…he was very spoiled this year since Nana brought presents from all the family back in Utah.

I really wanted to make a pirate ship cake, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t talk Jackson out of the moon one. And since it was his birthday and all, I let him win.

He was pretty bad at blowing out the candles, poor kid. We’ll have to work on that before next year.

Happy birthday Owen!

Yesterday was Owen's first birthday. I can’t believe how quickly he has grown up. I love this little man! Here’s some of our favorite things about him:

  • He thinks he’s much bigger than he is.
  • He’s a monkey…he loves to climb and loves bananas.
  • He still loves to be wrapped up tight to go to sleep.
  • He loves to play games with us. He runs away from Sam because he loves to be chased. He’ll start to give something to us and then takes it back  with a cheeky smile. He shoves his dummy (binky) into our mouths and then steals it back. A bit germ-y, but pretty funny.
  • Sometimes when he walks he looks like an old man shuffling along. Mostly when he’s wearing his little footy pjs.
  • He growls all the time. Sounds like he’s trying to make animal noises or something. I think it’s a happy sound.
  • He’s had a pretty funny laugh up to now, but he finally has a real belly laugh. There is no better sound in the whole world!

We love little Owen. He is so happy and makes all of us laugh every day. Happy birthday little man! We love you!

Here he is enjoying his delicious cake. He really liked it, but didn’t get nearly as messy as Jackson!

Gympie Cousins

A couple of weekends ago, we went to visit Sam’s sister, Sarah, and her family in Gympie, about 2 hours north of us. We all had a great weekend. We took the boys bowling. It was Jackson’s first time and he love love loved it. A few photos of our good times.

This is really the most important one. Notice first of all that I won, and secondly, that I got 4 strikes. Yup, I’m that awesome.
