Jackson is 4!

For a long time, Jackson really didn’t want to turn 4. I never figured out why, but he would get really upset whenever we talked about it. He didn’t want a party, a cake, presents, nothing. Just didn’t want to be 4. Luckily he got over it.

Jackson had an awesome Spiderman party this year. He was so excitedL Luckily it all turned out really well. The kids each got a can of silly string and got to chase “web” Green Goblin, Venom, and Doc Ock, which everyone loved. Figuring out what to do for the cake was pretty stressful, but in the end it was very simple and Jackson loved it. Hooray! It was a great party! I was so happy when it was over though,  and probably could’ve gone to bed by 6 pm that night. I’m so glad there a whole year before I have to do it again!

Jackson is a gorgeous boy. He is a real thinker and is very careful about things. He’s almost always humming or singing, usually a superhero theme song. He’s very smart and asks questions I sometimes don’t know how to answer. He loves Owen (most of the time) and is a great big brother. One of my favorite things is that he often translates for me what Owen is saying. I don’t know how he understands him all the time. It's very cute. He’s a very good boy and is my big helper. I love him so much. I can’t believe he’s getting so grown up.

 Owen's 2nd Birthday Party (184) 4 yrs

Owen’s 2!

I can hardly believe it, but on 1 Sept, my little baby turned 2. He is growing up so fast! We had a pretty quiet birthday, just had the family over for cake and ice cream. I made a monkey cake for him, and he loved it. All day, whenever we said something about his birthday, he would just say, “monkey cake!” It was great.

He also loved all of his presents. He didn’t get too many, but was so happy with them that it didn’t matter. The 2 favorite presents were his Superman costume from Grandma and his Buzz Lightyear gun fom us. He put the costume on right away and started flying around. He kept pointing to his shirt and telling me, “I supaman.” And then once he got the gun he loved shooting everyone. He was one very happy boy.

Some funny Owen things:

  • He’s so cute that it’s hard to stay mad at him. He gets away with a lot of stuff. Darn those curls!
  • He climbs. Everything.
  • He loves Jackson and always wants to be with him. It is so fun watching them play together, especially now that they are both superheroes.
  • He loves breakfast. He wants to eat as soon as he’s out of bed and keeps eating for about an hour.
  • He loves to dance. He’s got some pretty sweet moves.
  • When I ask him for a kiss, he squishes my cheeks together and then kisses me.
  • He’s already asking “why” all the time. Ugh.

We are glad that this little guy joined our family! We love him so much and can’t imagine life without him!

July part 3

The last week of our trip, we spent 5 days camping with my family for another family reunion – this one with my dad’s family. What a great time! The boys absolutely loved camping. They loved the creek, loved being dirty, loved all the other kids. We’ve gone to this reunion all of my life, so it was fun to see the kids doing all the things I did as a kid. It was definitely one of our favorite parts of the holiday.

We took one day and did a hike at Bryce Canyon, which is nearby. The kids did really well and we all had fun. It was so beautiful!

We also went to Cascade Falls and Mammoth Caves one day. At the caves, most everyone climbed all the way through the cave. Sam went through with my boys and I pulled them out at the end. I was so proud of them! I didn’t think they would do it, but they really enjoyed it. I think because they each got to have their own torch (flashlight)!

Just a few days later, we had to say goodbye and get back on the plane. It was really hard to leave. But we are so happy that we got to have such a long visit with our friends and family. We miss you all!

The plane trip home was like heaven- comparatively. Owen fit, and slept, in the bassinet, which meant we all got to sleep. By the time we woke up for good, we only had 5 hours to go.  Yay!

We all had such a great holiday. We are so blessed. I’m so glad that the boys know and love my family! Jackson keeps asking when we are going back and they both love to look at all the photos. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we get to go back again. Until then, we need some visitors!!

I know that if you’ve read all these updates, you’ve seen heaps of photos. If for some reason you are interested in seeing the many more we have, you can check them out here.

July Part 2

We were lucky to be in Utah for the first “official” Veech Family Reunion. This is the reunion with my mum’s family. We camped at Jolley’s Ranch, just up the canyon and had a great time. We took pictures, made crafts, ate some really good food, had a “Minute to Win it” competition, and held an auction to raise money for the next reunion. It was so fun be all together. I really love my family!!

We also got to spend a couple of days up in Park City with my aunty and uncle. We mostly just hung out at the condo eating and swimming. The boys enjoyed some cupcake with blue frosting!
