Here comes Santa…and tears

We decided on Friday to take the kids into the city to the Myer Centre to see Santa. I was pretty excited about it and thought it would be a fun outing. There is a train ride, Santa letter writing, the big man himself, and his reindeer, Rudolph that the kids can pet (he’s fake). Like I said, I was pretty excited and the kids would really enjoy. Ha.

The train ride was a mild success. Jackson would have nothing to do with it, but Owen went for a ride. I’m not sure he enjoyed it, as you’ll see from the photos, but at least he did it.

We waited in line for Santa, which wasn’t too bad, especially the part when the kids got to watch Nemo.

Finally it was our turn to see him. We went into the little room where the Jolly Man was waiting for us. Owen immediately started crying and trying to climb over my shoulder out of there. Jackson literally ran out screaming and Sam had to go and catch him. We stayed in there for a few minutes. Jackson finally stopped crying and would answer yes/no questions from Santa. Owen just cried and continued trying to climb out. At least we didn’t pay to get a photo! This was the best we got, once we were far away from Santa.

Not the best family outing. At least Jackson enjoyed the bus ride. Maybe next year?

so funny. we miss you guys. maybe you should hang out around large bearded strangers more often- just to let the boys get more comfortable. Happy Holidays!

I laughed so hard at the mental picture of Owen crying and trying to get away and Jackson running from the room screaming! I don't think Lexie has ever seen Santa up close and personal. We should try it this year...I have no clue how she'd react, though! Probably similarly to your kids. :)

I laughed SO had too at this post! I love that the bus ride was the highlight of the day! Poor you, who was so excited for a great sounding day! We saw Santa at Westfield, and I had to drag R up just to wave to him. Looks like to Santa photo here either!!! :)

Kids seeing Santa is the equivalent of going to get an injection from the doctor. You're all OK until the very minute you're called in and you see the syringe coming. OUCH! That wasn't that bad, was it?
